Meet Samantha Guy
Samantha Guy is the author of Sammie and Her Many-Colored Mind. A storyteller, creative entrepreneur, and former family therapist, she brings together a love of imagination, a background in supporting children and families, and her own experience with ADHD.
Sammie holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and spent years supporting individuals and families through her work in mental health. Her experience also includes coaching girls’ basketball and mentoring young athletes, helping young people navigate challenges, discover their abilities, and build confidence.
Creativity has been a constant throughout her work. As co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of First Sip Studios, Sammie helps people, businesses, and community organizations share their stories through photography, video, and creative storytelling. Whether she is behind a camera, teaching a workshop, or writing, connection is central to her approach.
Diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, Sammie gained a new perspective on her own creativity and the ways she thinks and works. In Sammie and Her Many-Colored Mind, she brings young readers into a world of racing thoughts, big feelings, and colorful possibilities. The story invites children and the grown-ups who support them to approach different ways of thinking with curiosity, patience, and care, while celebrating the possibilities in every many-colored mind.
